Welcome to IO-OB-
HR
Industrial-Organizational Psychology (IO)
Organizational Behaviour (OB)
Human Resources (HR)
Our mission is to raise the awareness of industry,
business, the public sector, and other organizations
to the field of Industrial-Organizational Psychology
and its intersection with the better known fields of
Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources
Management.
A persistent problem for the field of Industrial-
Organizational Psychology is that few people in
the wider world know what it is. This presents a
challenge when recruiting students to graduate
programs, finding employment, or bidding for
business contracts. Exacerbating this unfortunate
state of affairs is that even those who know of I-O
Psychology--including I-O psychologists--they still
have trouble distinguishing it from the better
known fields of Organizational Behaviour and
Human Resources Management. At best, this
causes confusion when parsing and identifying
the arenas in which the three fields are practised;
at worst, the unique skills and training of I-O
psychologists are not brought to bear on
significant organizational problems. Our mission
is to bring together scholars and practitioners for
the common purpose of clarifying and promoting
what Industrial-Organizational Psychologists do,
not just emphasizing the unique value of their
professional training, but also how they can add
value to, and in combination with, the fields of
organizational behaviour and human resources
management.
